Prentiss Brogdon "Tommy" Tew, 88 of Morrisville, passed away on January 21, 2021 due to complications of Alzheimer’s and COVID.

Born in Sampson County, NC on December 12, 1932, Tommy was the eleventh of fifteen children; survived by his three remaining sisters, Ernestine and Annie of Sampson County and Brenda of Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Venie Mae Tew and his wife of 62 years, Jean Rose Tew.

He is survived by his three children, Charles Edwin Tew of Raleigh, Mechelle Dickerson (Mike) of Creedmoor, and Patricia T. Gregory (Mike) of Cary; grandchildren, Denise (Larry Deal), Thomas, Christopher (Maryanna) and Emma; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Jordan Deal, Harley and Zane Dickerson, and Noah Tew. Tommy served in the U.S. Military during the Korean War. Upon coming home, he began a sixty-year long career, cutting hair as a local barber. His clients became some of his best friends; and on Tommy’s behalf, the family wishes to express their gratitude for the years of patronage and friendship those clients provided him. He worked as a rural mail carrier for 25 years and was an adult men’s Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Morrisville.

Family will receive friends and guests on Monday, January 25, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Apex Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Apex Funeral Home and will be officiated by Myron Yandle, preacher from First Baptist Church of Morrisville. Following the service will be a committal service at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27606 and Brookdale of Cary, 7870 Chapel Hill Rd, Cary, NC 27513.
