David passed peacefully at home with his Loving Wife Venny Blalock Holcomb at his side. David was born in Hartford, Connecticut son of Harold William Holcomb and Anna Pauline Price Holcomb. David graduated Torrington High School in 1965, enlisting in the US Navy that same year and serving until 1969. In the Navy he served aboard the USS America CV-66 where he was responsible for avionics on the A7 Corsair II aircraft.

Following the Navy he went to work for Sperry UNIVAC in Charleston, SC transferring to Durham, NC in the early 1970’s, through their merger with Burroughs to become Unisys in 1986 and retiring in December 2012. David was a Life Member of Franklin Sloan VFW 7383 enjoying camaraderie with his fellow veterans. He enjoyed golfing and riding his Harley as a member of the North Carolina chapter of the American Legion Riders where he participated in many of the Memorial Day Rolling Thunder rides in Washington, DC.

David is survived by his wife Venny of Cary, NC, his sister Sylvia Hartgrove of Greensboro, NC, brother Mark Hill and wife Elizabeth of Raleigh, NC, sister Jean Wrenn of Rougemont, NC, brother George Hill of Fuquay, NC, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Franklin Sloan VFW 7383 in Cary, North Carolina on Sunday March 16th from 2pm-4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organizations: Franklin-Sloan VFW Post 7383; American Legion Riders; Fisher House.
